The much-anticipated Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone starrer, 'Fighter,' made its theatrical debut last week with promises of high-octane action and patriotic fervor. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film generated significant buzz as one of the most awaited releases of 2024.
However, the initial excitement did not translate into a soaring start at the box office. Despite extensive promotion, lackluster advance bookings resulted in a modest first-day collection of Rs. 24.60 cr. Yet, hopes were revived on the second day, witnessing a substantial 67.48% surge, raking in Rs. 41.20 cr.
Unfortunately, the upward trajectory was short-lived, as 'Fighter' experienced a notable 33.01% drop on its third day. Even with a marginal increase on its first Sunday, the film failed to maintain momentum.
Now, on its fifth day, 'Fighter' suffered a significant setback, collecting a mere Rs. 7 cr. The film's mid-flight crash becomes more apparent when compared to 'Adipurush,' directed by Om Raut and starring Prabhas, which opened at Rs. 36 cr and recorded a 76.67% drop on its first Monday with Rs. 7.70 cr.
This unexpected decline has led industry analysts to revise their earlier optimistic projections. 'Fighter' is now predicted to struggle in crossing the Rs. 200 cr mark, with a likely theatrical run concluding around Rs. 160 - Rs. 170 cr. The few who foresaw 'Fighter' as a Rs. 200 cr+ grosser find themselves facing a considerable wreckage, rendering the film's future at the box office uncertain.
